Whilst Alan Wilson has decided not
to perform live these days, he can be heard on many records...
Alan
has just recorded an album with Matchbox frontman Graham Fenton,
where he played guitar and mandolin and sang backing
vocals. Graham's solo album will surface on Western
Star shortly.
Over the years, Alan has
often teamed up with long-time musical compatriot Chuck Harvey
of the Frantic Flintstones, they released an album under
the name Chuck & the Hulas in 2005. The 12 track CD is out
on Western
Star and also contains a CD-Rom video track.
There is also a new project in the works; a hybrid band called
Chuck & The Crack-Pipes, which will be Chuck singing a collection
of songs about drink/drugs with Alan and select musicians backing
him. This will be released on Western
Star in July 2006.
Alan can be found playing
on many records by other artists including; The Pirates last
album "Cabin Down Below" on Castaway records. He also played
guitar and some bass and also sang backing vocals on John Leyton's
last album "Look For A Star" (Lone Rider Records). Aside from
all this he has also played on tracks by Ian Gomm (ex Brinsley
Schwarz) and also tracks by Mike Berry. Alan can be found
guesting on the last 2 Blue J's CD albums (Raucous records) along
with guitarist Mark Harman of Restless. His guitar, bass and
piano skills can also be heard on the 2 Joe Meek tribute albums released
by Western
Star in recent years.
Steve Whitehouse can also
be heard on the John Leyton album and of course he is still
very busy with Frenzy.
In 2003. Alan Wilson teamed up with Bill Fadden
frontman and a whole gang of session players to write and record
an album of Mexican styled Rockabilly under the name Bill Fadden & the
Mostly Losers, some of these tracks are to be found on various
Western Star compilations..
An album by Popeye's Dik - a
collaboration featuring John McVicker, Steve Whitehouse (Sharks/Frenzy)
Alan Wilson (Sharks), Ben Turner (Woodies) and Steve Eaton (Frenzy)
is now out on the German label Crazy Love records. Alan and Steve
co-wrote many of the tracks and also perform across the whole
album.
Also in 2003 Alan Wilson could be found working with veteran
West Country hit-makers the Wurzels. Alan played guitar on several
tracks of their Never Mind The Bullocks CD which found its way
onto BBC Radio One. He has also recorded tracks with
Wurzels frontman Pete Budd which are out on a Western
Star compilation. The
Woodies are a three piece band featuring Alan Wilson of the Sharks.
The Woodies have many Rockabilly tracks out on various labels

Reservoir Teds are in fact all one
person! This is a Ted-band style project featuring Alan Wilson on every instrument.
Very tongue-in-cheek, yet strangely appealing.

In 2001 Alan also worked with Chuck
Harvey of the Frantic Flintstones on the 12 track CD titled 'Too Sweet
To Die' - available on Anagram records. The album also features
many well known names such as drummer Ben Turner (who has also
previously played on releases by Frenzy, the Frantic Flintstones
and the Woodies).
